A Plea to the Keepers of the Flame By: JoshM

America is trembling again.
Not from storms
but from the sound of hearts breaking
in every direction at once.

And so I lift my voice
not as a prophet
not as a politician
but as a son of Abraham
a child of Adam
a believer in the Most High
who still whispers through the cracks of our chaos
Love one another.

To the Pope
to the priests
to the pastors and ministers
to the Chief Rabbis Ashkenazi and Sephardic
to the Grand Imam of al Azhar
to the Grand Muftis
to every shepherd of every flock
who carries Scripture in one hand
and the weight of the world in the other

I am begging you.
Lay the hate down.
Lay the judgment down.
Lay the fear down.

Open your arms
the way Heaven has always opened Hers.

Because the world is bleeding
and the children of Abraham
are tired of inheriting wounds
that were never theirs to carry.

For almost fifteen hundred years
we have passed down pain
like a family heirloom.
We have taught division
as if it were doctrine.
We have mistaken pride for holiness
and vengeance for justice.

But Yahweh
Allah
God
the One Above All Names
never asked this of us.

The Most High asked for love.
For mercy.
For forgiveness.
For open arms
and open hearts
and open tables
where strangers become siblings again.

Leaders of faith
we need you now.

Not as judges
but as healers.
Not as gatekeepers
but as bridge builders.
Not as voices of certainty
but as students of compassion
willing to learn again
what the prophets tried to teach us.

Be the leaders
the Most High dreamed you would be.
Be the leaders
who choose peace over pride.
Be the leaders
who refuse to let another generation
inherit our unfinished grief.

Because we
Christians Jews Muslims
believers doubters wanderers
we are all leaves on the same ancient tree
different shapes
different colors
different seasons
but rooted in the same soil
of Adam’s breath
and Abraham’s trembling yes.

And the tree is dying
if we do not tend it together.

So I am asking
as a pastor
as a believer in the red words of Yeshua
as a brother to every child of Abraham

Call for peace.
Call for love.
Call for an end to violence
in the United States
and across the world.

Let your pulpits become places of healing.
Let your mosques become sanctuaries of mercy.
Let your synagogues become wells of wisdom.
Let your voices rise together
not in argument
but in unity.

Because the world is listening.
Because the children are watching.
Because the Most High is waiting.

And because peace
real peace
begins the moment
our leaders choose love
over everything else.
